Package Overview

This circuit takes you from the plains straight into Sikkim's high snow country, with Lachen as your base for a run at Kala Patthar and the wide meadows of Yumthang Valley. It's a Protected Area route, so the permit is handled for you, and the pace is built around one long high-altitude day bookended by easier travel days through Gangtok. Expect river roads, waterfall halts, a village homestay night, and mountain views that only open up this far north.

Into the Hills

Places on the way: Teesta River viewpoints, Rangpo checkpoint. Your circuit begins at NJP or Bagdogra, where the SUV picks you up for the climb into the hills. The road hugs the Teesta River for a good stretch, with a few halts for photographs at the riverbank viewpoints. At Rangpo you cross into Sikkim and complete ID verification at the checkpoint. By evening you're in Gangtok, with time free to walk down MG Marg before settling in for the night.

Waterfalls on the Road North
Private Cab

Places to Visit: Singhik viewpoint, Seven Sisters Waterfall, Amitabh Bachchan Falls (Bhewma Falls), Chungthang. Leaving Gangtok behind, the road climbs steadily north. Singhik viewpoint offers a clear look at Kanchenjunga on a good day, and a little further the Seven Sisters Waterfall drops in tiers right beside the highway. Amitabh Bachchan Falls (Bhewma Falls) makes for another quick stop — the spot gets its name from a Bollywood scene shot here. At Chungthang, where two rivers meet, you cross the final checkpoint before the last stretch into Lachen. By evening you're settled into a homestay at close to 8,840 feet, the mountain air noticeably colder here.

Day 3 · The High Circuit — Kala Patthar / Yumthang / Zero Point
The High Snows
Private Cab

Places to Visit: Kala Patthar, Yumthang Valley, Zero Point (Yumesamdong). This is the big day of the circuit, so you set off before sunrise. The drive climbs to Kala Patthar, a black-rock viewpoint that holds snow through most of the year — expect moderate snow underfoot in October. From there the route loops back via Chungthang and up towards Lachung's side, opening into the wide meadows of Yumthang Valley. Guests who add the extra can continue on to Zero Point (Yumesamdong), the last motorable point at close to 15,300 feet. It's a long day crossing two valleys, with an early start and a late return, but you're back in Lachen by evening for a well-earned dinner.

Mountain Bliss began in our college days, inspired by the slow, beautiful rhythm of mountain travel. We believe travel doesn’t have to be expensive—because the journey itself is the real luxury. Life is more than work and one place; it’s about going out.
